... and now a word from our President

"We will bankrupt ourselves in the vain search for absolute security. If

you want total security, go to prison. There you're fed, clothed, given

medical care and so on. The only thing lacking... is freedom."

....BTW, since the president's office has been vacant these past six years, the president mentioned is Eisenhower.

The balance between national security and civil liberties is as old as the republic. I am sensitive to arguements that would erode the latter. However, those that suggest that tracking the calls of known terrorists, inside or outside of the country, put at risk our freedoms, need to engage in a reality check.

Likewise, if we are going to engage with non state combatants, who would first eliminate the things liberals hold most dear, and we can't deprive them of sleep, that neither jeopardizes our soldiers treatment, nor erodes our so called moral authority, why don't we just pat them on the head, attend joint therapy and send them home with a new Koran to replace the one we flushed.

These people are killers, yet many liberals share more affinity with them than with me. I merely disagree, they want to destroy you and all you stand for.

There has been terrorism, since the start of political history. If the struggle against it is long term, the risk of losing rights is permanent.
